"The employees are extra special people, and it does my heart good to see the way they interact with the residents. I would be happy to recommend or discuss the Yellow Brick House." -- Mary Bowden

My step-father began living at the Yellow Brick House about three years ago. After my mother died, he needed somewhere to live where he wouldn’t be alone so much of the time. Now that he is living at the Yellow Brick House, he’s rarely in his room: He is in the den area talking with other folks; having a meal in the dining room (the wall of which have been painted by an artist to look like they are eating outside): in the exercise class, enjoying entertainment at least twice a month; attending church services on Sunday; attending devotion, at a sing-a-long; or he is off on a joy ride – just to name a few of the activities.

He was initially in the assisted living area and now in the memory care area. It was a blessing to have the memory care available when he began to need more care, he didn’t have to move somewhere else. During this time, I have seen constant upkeep of the house, new roofing, painting and carpeting, and much more. It is a beautiful house and beautifully kept – the huge porch with overhead fans is my favorite place. There are many comfortable sitting areas, inside and out. I’ve had lunch there several times and it is always very good. If you pull into the parking lot around 7-8:00 a.m., you’ll smell a wonderful breakfast cooking.

I fell in love with the house about 30 years ago when my husband and I first moved to the area. We only discovered that it was an assisted living home when we began looking for a place for my step-father to live. My husband and I toured every assisted living home in the area before deciding on the Yellow Brick House. Some of the places were dark – the Yellow Brick House is light and cheerful. Some of the places were very large, the Yellow Brick House is small enough that it is easy to learn your way around and get to know your owners, the employees (who tend to stay once they start working there), and the residents. The employees are extra special people, and it does my heart good to see the way they interact with the residents.

I would be happy to recommend or discuss the Yellow Brick House.
